EVALUATION // QUESTION FOUR
Who would be the audience for your media product?
My music magazine 'Acapella' is aimed at young people aged between 15 - 30 who are both female and male. My target audience means that the people who read my magazine will either be in full-time education, or full-time work. If they are in full-time education they may also have a part-time job. I have kept the price of my magazine low (£1.99) as I think that although the older people reading my magazine may have a steady income, the younger may not so I thought it would be best to keep my magazine affordable so that everyone can enjoy it, and not just people who have a steady income that can afford more expensive magazines.
As my primary audience is 15 - 30 year olds, the majority of my readers would be in Group E of the JICNAR scale, as most of them would be students. However, as some of them would be full-time students without part-time jobs, it means that the money that they are given to buy things is funded by their parents, who would be in the A/B/C Groups of the JICNAR Scale as they would most likely have jobs. My magazine would most likely have a secondary audience which could consist of parents or other older family members reading the magazine, younger family members reading it and also friends that the reader may have. As my magazine is aimed at 15 - 30 year olds, I have included a mixture of newer Acapella artists but also a few older but still very popular artists. I have done this to ensure that there is something for everyone and not just the younger/older audience.
Their values in life will include spending time with their family and friends, which may include going out to places such as parks, restaurants, shops, cinemas etc. As younger people, they will want to spend the most of their money on things such as clothes, the latest technology, music and going out which shows that my target audience will be spending a large portion of the money that they get on media products, and also things that the media has influenced them to purchase.

What people reading my magazine will look like
The majority of people now have smartphones, as they allow them to access things such as news, music, social media etc. on the go, when before you couldn't do that with phones. iPhones and Android phones are the most popular, as they allow you to take photos, access apps, video call and message among other things which is an advantage for my magazine as it means that we could use online marketing through social media websites as an example, and we could reach a wider audience purely because of the rise in people using technology that they can carry around with them on the go in their pocket or bag. They could also listen to the music that would be featured in my magazine on websites such as YouTube, or streaming services such as SoundCloud or Spotify which are both very popular. They could also use Google Play or iTunes to download music straight to their devices.
I asked two of my friends aged between 15 - 30 to tell me what they thought of my front cover, contents page and also double page spread that I had created. I asked people from my target audience because it would give me a true idea on if it fits well for the people I'm aiming my magazine at, which will tell me if it's a successful product or not.

Contents Page Conventions
Contents pages are where the reader of the magazine would look to find what's inside the magazine. It usually features 2/3 spaced out columns. The have a banner at the top that reads 'contents' which is sometimes accompanied by the masthead, date and issue number. Next to each article is the page number for that article, which is there so that the reader knows what is on each page and they can easily go to that article if they don't want to read the rest. There is also subheadings to tell you which part of the contents page the article falls under, e.g. 'news' or 'reviews', this way the reader can find what they're interested in easily. There is also sometimes a blurb under each article to explain more what the article is about, this is there to draw the reader in and make them want to read the article.

Making my Mock Magazine Cover
First I edited the photo to make it look better and also improve the quality
I then played around with my masthead to decide if I wanted it covering the whole of the magazine or if I just wanted it in the corner.
I then added my headline and the bar code, so I would be able to tell how much room I would have to add features to the cover.
I then added the features to the side so people would know what else was in the magazine. I used 2 different colours to make it interesting.
I then added a pug to make people look at my magazine, I used the eclipse tool to make a circle and then used the text and transform tools to add the text in and around it.
I then added a banner at the bottom to use up more space and I decided it was done.
